Learn how coated zipper surfaces, reverse construction and application details affect water resistance.
Start with the application
A water-resistant zipper usually reduces water entry through the zipper surface by using a coated construction and carefully arranged components. It should not automatically be described as completely waterproof.
Understand the construction
The visible coating provides a clean technical appearance and covers the coil area. Reverse-coil construction may also position the coil away from the exposed face.
Confirm functional details
Performance depends on more than the zipper chain. Seams, stitching, slider position and the surrounding product construction influence the final result.
Coordinate appearance and components
Typical development areas include outdoor apparel, packs, covers, technical bags and equipment. The required resistance level should be discussed before sampling.
Prepare a clear sampling request
Confirm coating color, zipper size, length, opening structure and test expectation. If certification is required, specify the standard before quotation.
